Mr. Laurian Dragos

Mr Laurian Dragos is a Consultant Urological Surgeon based at Addenbrooke’s Hospital (Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) who also provides private specialist consultations at Nuffield Health Cambridge Hospital. He possesses core medical expertise spanning general urology, academic urology, uro-oncology, and advanced endourology.

Mr Dragos delivers a comprehensive range of modern endoscopic and realised minimally invasive surgical interventions tailored to individual patient needs. His primary clinical interests include:

• Advanced BPH Treatments: Specialises in cutting-edge surgical alternatives for prostate enlargement, including Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP) and Rezūm Steam Therapy.

• Kidney Stone Management: Expert in handling complex stone disease utilising retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) and advanced endoscopic interventions.

• Bladder Tumour Resection: Performs Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumour (TURBT) for the precise removal and pathology evaluation of bladder growths.

Deeply committed to high-standard clinical education and research, Mr Dragos serves as an active contributor to the European Association of Urology (EAU) Young Academic Urology Endourology Working Party. He is heavily involved in pioneering medical training methods, specifically focusing on the development and validation of endourology bench-top simulator training tools, such as the K-box® simulator.

To date, he has co-authored more than 25 peer-reviewed scientific publications. His published research covers critical endourological topics, including optimisation of laser settings for lithotripsy stone breakdown, suction-assisted flexible ureteroscopy, and international healthcare cost analyses.

Mr Dragos graduated with his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the Universitatea de Medicina si Farmacie Timisoara. He completed his comprehensive Higher Specialist Training in Urology within the East of England regional rotation. Throughout his training pathway, he built strong international academic and clinical foundations, which included prestigious clinical ties with the University of Paris alongside Cambridge University Hospitals.
